What you have to know about the different types of plastics

What you have to know

As we always say in our articles, “plastic is not bad”, it’s a product that helps us a lot in our daily lives, what is really bad is the use we make of it, which is what truly harm our environment. Let’s know some more about plastics.

First of all, you have to know that all our packs and plastic products have an identifier which show some things about them. We list the most famous.

PET (Polyethylene terephthalate)

This is the most used material for packs like water, juices and others bottles fabrication. In some cases it can be reused and recycled if thrown in the correct dumpster.

HDPE (High Density Polyethylene)

This is a more rigid and resistant plastic. Usually it’s used to contain detergents and other liquids in carafes. It’s used as well for plastic bags fabrication. It’s recyclable and, following the security measures, it’s in most cases reusable.

PVC (Polyvinyl)

In most cases we find it in plastic pieces, toys, tools, wrappers and other objects. It’s not recyclable nor reusable.

LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene)

In the same way as HDPE it’s a very good choice for the fabrication of packs that must resist extreme temperatures and other adversities. You can find it in plastic bags and some water bottles. It’s reusable but not always recyclable.

PP (Polypropylene)

This is a very resistant to moisture plastic. Usually it’s used for the fabrication of straws and liquids or yogurt packs. It’s possible to reuse and recycle it

PS (polystyrene)

This plastic is highly pollutant, despite being usually used in food packaging. PS is the main component of hamburgers and sandwiches boxes used in fast-food restaurants. In this case, we advise you to avoid its use as much as possible.
